Once home to the Bhutia Busty Monastery, Observatory Hill now houses Mahakal Temple, an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Just a short uphill walk from Chowrasta Square, the temple is adorned with vibrant Tibetan prayer flags and surrounded by historic prayer wheels.

World Peace Pagoda - Darjeeling

Built in 1954 by Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fujii, the Darjeeling Peace Pagoda stands as a powerful emblem of world peace.

Perched on the scenic slopes of Jalapahar Hills, it offers a tranquil retreat for visitors. A steep 45-minute uphill walk from town leads to this serene monument, though a taxi ride is a more convenient option. Early morning visits ensure a peaceful experience, and the nearby Japanese temple provides a quiet space for meditation alongside thought-provoking anti-nuclear artwork.

Ropeway - Darjeeling

Reach New Heights on the Darjeeling Ropeway

Also known as the Rangeet Valley Passenger Cable Car, the Darjeeling Ropeway is the best way to enjoy the area’s incredible natural scenery and offers visitors the ultimate opportunity for sightseeing in Darjeeling.

Descending from 7,000 to 6,000 feet, the Ropeway runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the winter and spring and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the autumn and summer.
